beginning patches w/ 2101

I just got a 2101 w/ 3.00 upgrade and dual processors. I have found some patches on the net..if I want to manually load a patch then it reads: "txt." right?...thats doing it by hand, correct? What safeguards should I be aware of as I start doing this (see next paragraphs): Do I need the same algorythm in the patch I'm putting it into?...or start the patch from scratch, with the correct algorythm? With patches off the net, I dont see anything on them that says "single or dual disc processor".. .I understand they are not totally interchangable, correct? How do I go about this, since I dont want to waste time dialing in a patach that wownt work. I figure I'd do some patches by manual input before diving into "loading them". Thanks Mark
