Well, the first thing you'll need to do if you only want to hear the
effected note is set the wet/dry mixer to 100% wet. It sounds like you want
to use the pitch shifter to change the notes pitch and perhaps use the delay
like you normally would. This is something that'll take some 'Linking'. Once
you're on the program you're trying to create, go to edit mode by pressing
the right arrow button once. It'll say something like U1: Comp, Dist, EQ,
blah, blah, blah... or F2: Comp, Dist, EQ, blah, blah, blah... The F is
Factory Algorithms and the U's are User Algorithms. The number next to eah
letter is the algorithm number.

Anyway, once you're on that screen hit the 'Add' button. It'll go into edit
mode and there you can either...
1. Single-Single 2 Single-Dual 3. Dual-Single or something like that. You'll
probably wanna pick Single-Single. Once you're in, hit the button that shows
you the algorithm. It's one of the three across the bottom I believe... Make
sure the Pitch is before the Delay. Read the manual on this part if you need
to move either around. I can email it to you if you need it. Once that's
done, hit the 'Link' button on the right-most keypad. It'll ask you if you
want to Auto-Link or something, hit No. This is where it gets interesting...
The first thing you see should be 'Left Input -> Pitch In' If you turn the
data knob the one on the top line of the display ( In this case, Left
Input ) will change. Make sure it's setup as follows...

Left In -> Pitch In -> then Pitch Out -> Left Out and Pitch Out to Right
Out.
If you had two Pitch Shifters, it might look like this...
Left In -> PitchA In -> Right In -> PitchB In -> PitchA Out -> Left Out ->
PitchB Out -> Right Out
Sending/linking the Pitch Out to both Left and Right Outs is only neccessary
if you hook up your 2101 in stereo. This way even mono patches come out of
both sides of the stereo field. I think the manual tells you to draw out
your Algorithm ideas using a flow-chart-type diagram resembling FX Pedals.
You might need to do this at first but us veteran 2101 programmers have it
all in our heads... As you start using stereo and four-way choruses and the
like this all gets much more complicated. Start out simple like you have
done. Build from there...

I hope this makes sense and is helpful. It's been a while since I even
touched my 2101 so I'm going on memory but I've had this thing for ten years
now and I think I have it pretty much memorized by now. Send as many
questions as you have. I'm sure me or the other guys would be glad to help
you out. I'll be putting my 2101 next to my PC tomorrow as part of a Desktop
PC/recording station setup I'm assembling so if you have a really crazy
question I'll actually be able to do it myself and tell you what you need to
know step by step. It's a damn shame Digitech doesn't reproduce the 2101's.
Think of all the stuff we've all tried and learned we could put in a video
for newbies!! And if they had something like their Genedit software for the
2101... Damn... that'd be sweet!!! Well, try that guy. Check out the various
web resources for 2101's too like the patch editor program and websites you
can share patches on! Later.
