Using GSP 2101 with Soldano SLO 100 effects loop

Using GSP 2101 with Soldano SLO 100 effects loop

2007-03-04 by asdaboyy

Hi,
New member here, please be tolerant!
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with Soldano amps
effect loops - they run at line level. Having tried connecting my
software version 1.00 GSP 2101 through the loop, I find I have to turn
up the output levels to get any decent volume levels and it 'aint
sounding too good when clipped, especially with the SLO amp overdrive
engaged. Anyone have any suggestions that may help me get around this.
I live in the UK, so sending back my amp to have the FX loop modded is
not a viable option. Any help would be much appreciated. My apologies
if this has already been covered. Thanks in advance

How do you have it connected to your amp? A long time ago I used my 2101 in the FX loop I added to a 50W JCM 800 I used to have and I had to connect the 2101 so that it's preamp was bypassed and only the 2101's FX were used. It's been so long ago I forget exactly how I had them wired together. Maybe you just have a connection problem with your setup?

Hi,
The Gsp 2101 is connected to the amp effects loop with the input from
the 2101 into the send of the loop and the output of the 2101 into the
return. Just a thought but would using the XLR connectors help any ?.
If so, how could this be configured to the amp loop?

Thanks for the reply. I don't actually use the preamp of the 2101
with the overdrive of the SLO. Even with just the delay, reverbs and
chorus, I am getting unwanted clipping because the output level of
the 2101 has to be so high. Maybe its time to change my fx unit!

Guitar to 2101 input.
2101 output to Soldano effect return (or slave input)
If no returns or slave input on the Soldano turn DOWN the input gain on the Soldano and turn up the 2101 until the least noise is heard.

Good luck.
