Sustain Cuts Out

Sustain Cuts Out

2007-06-16 by gamecockdude2001

Hey all:

I've only had this unit for a few weeks. I really like it. I just
noticed something about it though. If i pick a note and hold it,
instead of just decaying out it goes for a few seconds then abruptly
cuts out. If there is a delay or some other modulated effect with it
then you hear that effect a little but not the original signal. This
appplies to distorted presets. I cant tell anything on clear
presets. The string volume swell setting appears to behave normally
though. I don't know if this is normal or not. I've done factory
resets, hard resets, and swapped out tubes, still the same thing. I
did notice if the pitch of the note is lower it appears to sustain a
little longer but nothing like i would think is normal I have it
connected to a small mixer(behringer xenix 502) and ran back out into
my cd/mp3 input. I have a a/b/y switch so i run an imput to the
input of the amp head(line6 spider III) and the other input to the
input of the digitech. This allows me to compare the sustain on the
head to the digitech. Obviously the head has a much longer, decaying
sustain. I have the artist software ver. 3, no ppc board. I've also
tried the digitech just straight to the input of the head, without
mixer. still the same thing. Does anyone have any ideas? or am I
just hearing things. thanks Bill

Check the noise gate settings and adjust them to your liking.

The high gain setting often have a noise gate in the algorithm; the clean settings don't which is why you are observing the difference. Get into the noise get setting and either turn them off or change the gate settings to avoid the abupt cutoff. Consult the manual for what each othe gate parameters do.

Cheers,
