hi Guys I have an 2101 Artist from 1994 it workin very very well the
distotion clean tube and grunge sound great but, the saturated and the
distorted tube and heavy sustain sound unclear, not really useable when
playin more than one tone. Any suggestions what is wrong or what can I
try to make these distortions sound better?

Hey,
I find I get the best results with a JJ and GT 12AX7 in the 2101 going through a Mesa 50/50 power amp. Additionally if you use Dist with 2 gain levels make sure the 1st gain level is a couple notches lower than the second. I find 7 and 10 respectively give me a good tone. The 2101 can't do death metal tones except on the Grunge setting....but I believe that is solid state.
Thats my 2 cents

You could try 2 things...

1. If they are the original tubes you may want to swap them out.

2. Play around with the EQ a bit. The sound might be there but need a
little push in a couple of the frequencies.

Ok I did put in new tubes electro harmonics 12 AT7 or is it really
importand to use a special brand of tubes ??that give a brighter
distortion it helps now I'm tryin to get gain 1 and gain 2 right and
the EQ I hope to get it right in a couple of days thanx

If your looking for more distortion you'll want 2 12AX7's rather than 12AT7's. The AT7's have less gain.

The input gain to the tube circuit can be increased. In fact, earlier
2101's were factory set to a lower input gain and can be adjusted to
the updated level using the Clean Tube Setup on this page:

http://home.arcor.de/pirat28/sites/gsp2101test_procedure.htm#clean

My schematic identifies the trimpot as P9 instead of R188 though, so
look for either on the board.

As far as the EQ goes you may also want to adjust the universal EQ for
the whole unit in order to match your setup.

good luck,

blues rock sound by playin with the EQ with plenty of sustain and also
clear as I wanted it but only with the bridge pick up of my
stratocaster with the next pick up it becomes unclear but I think I can
adjust that with EQ but I will look for the trimpot and try and see
what happens thanx again for your help (everybody who helped me)
