Tap Delay?

Tap Delay?

2004-02-23 by alex_von_k

Hi! I'd been searching for a mutieffect/preamp which fits all my
needs and eventually came across the 2101. I got the impression it
might be the right thing for me, though I didn't have the chance to
try one by myself yet. I tried to get as much information, sound
samples etc. from the internet as possible, of course. These really
good sites dedicated to the unit and a pro-musician I met in fact
helped me to draw myself a picture. But know I#m slightly confused. I
read a post, dont know whether it was here or in another group, that
you can e.g. not adjust the speed of the delay by tapping the song
tempo. Is that true? And if so, what do the programms 2 Tap and 4 Tap
mean anyway? I would take this for quite a big disadvantage.
Did anybody of you have the chance to compare the 2101 to the Boss GT-
6? Perhaps I should better get that one after all. It definitely has
more effects and interesting ones, too, doesnt it? I'm looking
forward to your replies!
Bye, Alex

Hi Alex,

I'm using my 2101 all the time. It's the main-stay of my entire rig.

The tap delays can be used to have the delay part of the signal in different
locations of the stereo field. A 2 tap delay can have each of the echoes on
a different channel. Where say a 4-tap delay can not only do left and
right, but closer into center. This can be really cool when you want the
delay to be dancing around within the stereo field.

Brian
