Digital Recording?

Digital Recording?

2004-08-22 by ryan

Anyone know how I can digital record stuff at my house. I want to
run my 2101 into my computer so I can record stuff. What would I
need to buy? How would I do it.

Man that software is like 700 bucks you know of any
cheaper alternatives. Do I need any kind of special
gear or anything else. Or can I just run a USB Midi
to my 2101 and to my pc? Thanks

there are certainly cheaper (like some cubase light version) or even free programs to record, edit and mix audio.

you can´t record audio via midi. you´ve got to connect the 2101 outs to the line in of your soundcard.

Home quality or Studio quality?
If you're just wanting to create something simple for your own use
and you aren't concerned with studio quality sound...then you can do
this with what you probably already have.

cheap route: get yourself a decent sound card and mic, record....It's
not hard to find a freeware or shareware prog on the net...

cheaper route: make a 1/4" to 1/8" cable and go "out" from your gsp
to your "in" on the sound card..you'll have to mess with the levels
on the pc as well as the gsp...

you might find these useful...

http://www.tucows.com/audio_recorders_default.html

Otherwise be prepared to spend a little for some decent recording
equipment.
Like cubase,cakewalk..etc..etc...

As for myself, I have a decent sound card and Mic as well as quiet
location at that works perfect for what I need... I have used
different software to record...I don't really have a
preference...Whatever is quickest and easiest at the time...I have
used a few demo's versions of the higher end software and for what
need it is a little too time intensive when I just want to create a
quick rhytm track....

There are alot of places that will let you demo their software-
you're better off finding something that you like and will fit your
needs than than pirating it off of limewire or some other p2p. That
is why programs like cubase are $700 (a result of the "go find it for
0$ cheap" mentality)...

just get software like = imesh or limewire or Ares etc...per to per....
and you could get it for ....very cheap...try it....
Good luck mate....

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
