I own a 2101 I will not part with. I have owned an original POD
which I updated to 2.0 and later sold- I did not like the OS or the
sound. I also use a GNX2 a lot-I love the sounds and the OS, but you
do need to edit your own sounds. The presets mostly suck.
I like to be able to edit sounds equally well on the unit or on a
computer.
I also own a Vox Tonelab SE pedalboard.
I do not use any of them together- it's either or.
The 2101 is amazingly warm & good sounding-using the XLR outs-to a
recording system (VS-1880). I love its clean, chorused, and
distortion sounds, but I do not want to move a rack anymore, so it
is a studio toy only. If I was willing to move all that stuff, it
would be a great live rig, too.
The GNX2 is like my swiss army knife. It is great with my '83 Fender
Concert (tube) amp as a small rig that will do anything I need. It
is digital sounding by itself, but through a tube amp it warms up
nicely. It works OK in the studio, but the 2101 is better.
I also like its programmable toe switch wah, which I can add to any
patch, and go wah wah from any patch by stepping forward all the way.
I bought the Vox Tonelab SE this year. Its modeling stuff does not
impress me much, but it does the Marshall and Vox and wah sounds
really well.
Think Aerosmith,AC/DC,Beatles, Hendrix, or Lynrd Skynrd. The wah is
very programmable & cool sounding, but no toe switch?. I am having
trouble with its clean tones
breaking up too much for me. I like clean tones to be crystal clean
with no dirt, even if I play hard on the guitar, and it does not do
that. At least not that i can figure out.
So thay all work, but for different stuff and different situations,
each one might be better the the others.
