You can easily tell both the EPROM version and whether or not a PPC-210 is installed in a GSP-2101 from the maximum factory program number available. Use the DATA wheel to dial up program #1, then turn the DATA wheel 1 click anti-clockwise. This loads the maximum factory program number. Then check the following table:
EPROM Version less than 3.00 and no PPC-210 installed - maximum factory program number is 200
EPROM Version less than 3.00 and a PPC-210 is installed - maximum factory program number is 215
EPROM Version is 3.00 and no PPC-210 installed - maximum factory program number is 240
EPROM Version is 3.00 and a PPC-210 is installed ; - maximum factory program number is 255

Ryan,

Hit the utility button and scroll "right" with the right arrow. If the
unit has a PPC-210 installed, you will see a "Seamless" option menu.

A quicker way to check (this applies to the Artist 3.00 versions) is to
see how many presets you have, If it has 240 total presets, there is no
PPC-210 card. If there are 255 presets, the PPC-210 card is installed.

Graham,

This doesn't necessarily apply to versions prior to 2.00 -- the early
1.XX versions do not have PPC-210 compatibility.

Adrian:

Although EPROM versions earlier than 2.00 could not handle a PPC-210, they
still had a maximum factory program number of 200, so my table still applies
for earlier EPROM versions.

You're right.

Besides, the properly upgraded units would have had their eproms upgraded too since
they were included in the PPC-210 kit.

I have the LE with v2.01.01a. I have 240 presets and can switch seamlessly. I thought I had the ppc-210 but not according to the table. don't all LE's have PPC-210s?

Look for the seamless menu (hit the utility button and scroll right or
left until you see it). This confirms whether or not you have a PPC-210
installed.

All LE's had a PPC-210 installed at the factory but quite often, the
PPC-210's may have been removed by an unscrupulous seller, or without
the knowledge of their owners.

From what I've been told, all of the LE units had the second S-Disk, and they had Groove Tubes in them. I've got an LE, and it came with a second S-Disk.
Blessings,
Brian
