Regarding your 2101 not recognizing its new EPROMs, check the
following:
1. Make sure both EPROMs are firmly seated in their sockets,
that none of the EPROM legs is bent, and they are oriented correctly (with the
notch to the front of the 2101).
2. Press and hold the function [1] key
while powering on your 2101. When you see an asterisk * in the top-left corner
of the display, release the function [1] key and press the up-arrow (Program Up)
key. This completes the factory reset procedure.
3. Next, the display
will tell you that the 2101 is resetting and then it will show the EPROM
version. This completes the power-up process.
If your 2101 doesn't
complete the power-up process and you are sure your chips are correctly
installed (step 1 above), it could be that either one or both EPROM chips are
bad.
If the 2101 displays a version other than 3.00.00.a (step 3 above),
you've been sold a set of older EPROMs.
