Which pin is the font selection on the K5 ?
Do you have your old display still ?
I was looking for the el plug for the K5 so I could provide people with plug and play backlights. Other synths which have the same size backlight dont all have the same connectors. So in order to make the backlights require no soldering, I have to track down the appropriate plug for each el panel.
We have a plug and play led upgrade w/ribbon cable for other synths with the same t6963c controller language as the k5 and it uses the ribbon cable to power the lcd as opposed to having to remove the transformer
It is most likely compatable with the k5

For just a couple of quid more you can replace the whole display with an LED backlit one. Much brighter and should last a very long time.
I replaced mine recently with this one-
240x64 Dots GLCD Graphic Module LCD Display,w/T6963 Controller,LED Backlight
It's a pin for pin replacement, but you have to solder on a new header for the ribbon cable, and also tie the font selection to + 5 volts with a 10k resistor. Some self adhesive foam sponge rubber is also worth getting to go around the surround like the original display. I also desoldered and removed the inverter block and jumpered across the 5 volt supply so I could use the original connection plug for the LED backlight.
