K5synth

Hi,

I recently bought a K5. I already updated to OS1.3. Now I want to dump the banks for backup.

I set all channels ( normal and exclusive) to 1/ON. Then I select Multi and block before I spin the wheel clockwise. Some data (361 bytes ) are sent, then I read "Error" on the display.

Is the K5 able to dump in fire and forgetmode ?

Howto backup the data ?

Hi,thanks. I seem to have missed that handshake.My other ( vintage synths) don't use that kind of handshake.I currently succeeded to send the .syx files using midiquest10, so I can try to dig into this nice synth now.

Two things about the K5, it's bulk dump function requires both MIDI Out and MIDI In connections to the computer.  Bulk dumps are sent as a series of individual patch dumps with a handshake sent to let the K5 know it's ready for the next message.  You get the error most likely because the Computer's MIDI Out is not connected to the K5's MIDI In.
The other possibility is that the computer's MIDI interface is running too fast for the transmission coming from the K5 and is "outrunning" it.  Whatever software you're using to receive the dump with should have speed settings you can adjust to avoid this.
