K3 BATTERY...

K3 BATTERY...

2007-05-15 by somethingkillingyou

Hi

I'm about to buy a K3 but the shop says that the battery is dead...
is that really a problem? I changed all my synths internal batteries
without problems...

what kind of battery does it use? is it a simple lythium battery like
the ones in the watches?

does it need a technician to fix it?

any advice?

thanks

Fabio

I just went through this on my K3. The battery looks like a thin
quarter and is not real costly.

If you don't replace it, then everytime you power on you will have
to restore factory internal patches and you will only be able to
save patches to the cartridge.

It was a real pain, but it was pretty easy getting to the battery,
which was sitting on the circuit board near the power cord. If you
can change a battery out of a computer, you can do this.

thanks for reply!
yeah, I know that the battery is there for patch storage, there is a
battery in every synth with presets, and I already changed batteries
in my synths ;)

I hope all this is not just an excuse for the shop to lift up the
price... they said that they were thinking to take it to the repair
guy and that the price will CONSIDERABLY go up... :(
[the point is: if it ain't broken why fix it? :)
I don't think it needs a technician for this, c'mon shop-guy!]
I already told them to sell it to me AS IS, let's see what they
reply...

I just want that K3!
