Re: [kawaisynths] RE: KI sound problems

2013-09-13 by Tom Walker

Thanks for that info. I just tried and it still kept all the patches names intact but unfortunately made no difference to the distorted types of sounds being produced. The patch names give an idea of the type of sound which should play and it does make some of those types of sound but it is all over the place pitch is up down loud soft sustained modulated by LFO random. And is the same results for each patch but changes the sounds to something similar to the patch name but totally unusable.
Thanks for the advice. Tom

Maybe the best time for the factory reset:

Power Off
Press SYSTEM, hold it and Power On

It will erase internal RAM, so backup your data before doing it.

Good luck!

I don't know if this helps but I had the same problem with my K1r while using it with a DC-8 Ram card. I eventually tracked the problem down to a dying battery in the Ram Card. I changed it and it's been fine ever since. If you don't have a ram card maybe the internal battery me be losing it's charge.. Chris.

I have just purchased a K1 ii and when switched on it looks all good until you
play a sound. The sound is either a mixture of sounds that sustain or crackle
and are a mixture of different sounds that either go up or down in pitch or are
like a LFO has gone crazy but don't respond to the keys pressed. I can change
banks the noise stops but the same behaviour but maybe different sounds. Its as
if the synth has a mind of its own. I don't know wether it may be the CPU or
wave Rom or something else. The battery has just been replaced and everything on the
board looks good. I have tried to reload the patches and the synth only took half the download and MidiOx has said memory buffer full.
Could this be a RAM issue which also affects
the quality of the sounds??
Any suggestions or just throw it away?? The synth is in really
good condition
