Midi out problems

2005-09-10 by pedro_perez_porras

Hello kawai group members:

I've a k4 and I think midi out is broken:
I do nothing:
status data1 data2 chan note event
FC -- -- -- -- Stop

I press program change in a bank (1, 2, ... any):
status data1 data2 chan note event
80 00 00 1 C0 Note Off

I press a key:
status data1 data2 chan note event
80 00 00 1	C0 Note Off
80 38 00 1	G#3 Note Off
FF -- -- --	-- System Reset
80 00 38 1	C0 Note Off
FF -- -- --	-- System Reset
80 10 20 1 E0 Note Off
80 72 00 1	F#8 Note Off
FF -- -- --	-- System Reset

Any key or controller send data but are wrong data.

Can I confirm midi-out is broken?.

Midi-in is ok, I play from PC any midi with sounds from my k4.

Thanks.

On the K5, there is a config menu where you can enable
and disable midi in and out parameters. You can select
if it sends volume, pitch...

Maybe you should try to reset it. Often there's a
reset method, but if it's like the K5, you will need
to disconnect and reconnect the battery to reset it.
The only problem you might encounter is that the
battery is soldered there. Maybe the MIDI cable is not
working fine also.

Antoine:

thanks for your answer.

I have send the kawai to repair before
test battery, but I am waiting.

I'll comment about what is the problem.

I'll send your comment about reset battery
to shop repair instruments.

Thanks.
