Kawai K1 OS eprom dump

2016-01-06 by hobbysynth@...

Hello group!

I found a Kawai K1 main board on the flea merket. The board is in pretty good shape but eprom (IC 20) is missing. I found V1.3 from K1r in the files section and i wonder if it would work if i burn it do 27c256 eprom?

Thank you for answers and best regards,
Peter

You're welcome... I think ...I mean, I'm sorry to hear yours is the same. I took mine to Three Wave Music here in New Jersey (http://threewavemusic.com/), and (two weeks later) the owner said a propietary chip - of which there is no replacement - has failed.

The keyboard is otherwise near mint. In fact, I knew the owner of the store where it was purchased, and - being aware of subtle differences in keybed feel - was allowed to "try before I buy". This one had the best action by far. Still does.

It makes a great controller - with aftertouch - for my K1r. But not enough at this point to justify hanging on to it. I have a feeling it's destined for eBay as a "Parts, not working" auction. Or back to Three Wave, as they offered to buy it for parts.

If you ever find a solution, don't hesitate to post! Thanks!

sure thing ; - (

thing is, i'm told by former (?!#waaaah???ship it like *thatttt*?!!) owner
that it worked prior to shipping. yeah that's it, so rip it out of wherever
it was, with MIDI+audio still plugged in, kinda wrap it in cardboard,
and stick that together with tape and call that a ****** parcel.
brilliant.

consider then your item flipflopped in transit through conveyor belts,
and then tossed about by delivering postie.

so the only way to find out is go to someone with a logic probe and
some understanding of that particular IC. otherwise it's any number
of things. seems to be a fragile board, the k1mkII, that's the one
that seems to have the problem. although there's a YT vid of a faulty
k1 - or was that a II as well? i have a k1 keyboard, no problem there,
but i just wanted a rack version, didn't really care if mk1 or 2.
(knock it on for parts to get money back..?)
(or try:
-connecting midi in AND out, next sysex restore (eliminate that)
-disconnect backup battery (still 3.16v) +replace
-upgrade OS?)
