Software release notes

To all, I should also mention that this weekend I will be posting a "release notes" document on the Tech Support page. This document will point out some of the quirks of the new software. Most of the quirks will be fixed in later releases of the software. There is one quirk that will never go away and that is the quirky portamento mono mode. Everyone should understand that portamento mode works well in some cases and not so well in others. This MAY be able to be fixed in later versions of software but probably not. There are four other important quirks in the existing software release, all of these quirks will be fixed in later software releases. i) There is no "bank select" mode in either extended parameter or global parameter editing modes. So when editing global or extended parameters, you must always enter both of the parameter digits. This will be fixed in a later software release. ii) The global and extended parameters are ordered in a somewhat unfriendly manner. The parameters will be remapped into a more friendly order in a later release. iii) Over the coming year, the boot EPROM software will be upgraded to include many new functions. This will mean that at some later point in the year, owners of the Hawk-800 kit will probably want to upgrade their EPROM and this will cost to buy, program and ship the EPROM to owners of the Hawk-800. New features will include default patch bank recovery, power on self tests, calibration mode, etc. iv) You cannot use noise in sounds while in portamento mono mode since the noise gate is never turned off and the noise just keeps going forever. This will be fixed in a later software release. Remember, software updates and bug fixes are free for all Hawk-800 owners. Mike.
