Korg Poly800/EX800 Users

Hi. I was just checking if anybody knew about replacing (or maybe 
just cleaning) the progamming buttons. Some of mine are unreliable, so 
programming really sucks! I was also thinking that maybe it would be 
possible to remove the up & down value buttons, and replace with a 
fader, like poly800 and dw8000. I just got this from my friend for 
cheap, and was thinking of messing around with some mods, so if you 
know about some interesting projects I'd like to find out!

You could add an angular encoder and have that trigger the up/down buttons.
Wouldn't generate a true slider, per se, but that would give a knob with 360
degree rotation that would change the values as you twist.

Making a true slider would require playing with the firmware...

Another option, for the Ex/MkII users, would be one of those programmable
knob/slider midi controllers. Wait... there is a midi controller value for
data entry, anyone know if the MkI would respond to that?

you need to take it apart and spray contact cleaner into the switches and then press them continually until they stop sticking. my ex800 was in a fire and the buttons were messed up
with the fire retardant shit. whatever you do don't use the radio shack "tv tuner control cleaner and lubricant". i tried that 1st and it only made it worse. took multiple applications
of contact cleaner to restore functionality. it's been working great ever since - about two years so far.

So I've visited Pieter today for his EX800 and he was so kind to lend me 'the apparatus'. I've made some measurements and this is what is comes down to:

I might want to clean it up a bit, but I always think the price for those little 3D prints is pretty steep ah well.. it's probably because I'm Dutch ;-)

I would advise ultra detail prints, I've enabled the regular 'polished flexible plastic' but I'm not sure this material will cut the detail. Expect to do some sanding to get the same finish as the original on both.
