Of course I don't think it was justified at all. There is a fine distinction here - which clearly escapes Guiliani also. Although not justified, we Americans need to ask ourselves why it that some in the Arab world danced in the streets at our loss. And now, as we fight back in a very limited and controlled way and precise way, the world seems to be turning against us - riots with deaths in Pakistan, India, and Palestine, and even several members of this very list who have condemned the US in advance. One thing I have learned from this list is that there is a huge amount of hatred toward America which most Americans don't realize at all. We see ourselves as the peacemakers, the fixers of problems, the heroes, the leaders. However, much of the world - at least the Arab world, if not also some Euros and Aussies and others, view us quite differently. And if so many people think so badly of us, we need to look in the mirror and ask "why?". If people hate us so much to spend millions and to sacrifice their lives just to kill us, we need to ask "why?". The Saudi Prince did something unusual in that he came over, in person, and with his money, and as a friend told us WHY. Why is because Arabs are fed up watching Palestinians die or suffer for 50 years and seeing the US as the only country which sides with Israel in the U.N. Most of our other friends in the Arab world want something from us in return - Syria wanted to be on the security council, Pakistan and India want off the embargo list, Egypt wants our billions in aid. Here is a guy who asks for nothing and even gives to us very generously, and is honest and frank about what some of the underlying reasons which lead up to this crime. And Gilliani, in essence, shoots the messenger because he doesn't like the message. The fact of the matter is, if there was no Palestinian problem that has been left to fester, this tragedy would never have occurred.
