> A word to the wise regarding debating the election - lets drop it - this > can go on and on and it won't solve anything. The damage has been done. A Of course we could (and should) say the same about debating the actions taken against Afghanistan -it's done and this debate will be endless. But I will just say I do have a problem when people try to paint black-and-white that it was a clear-cut election and implies that whichever person occupies the White House now is illegitimate (I say whichever because I have no doubt at all that if Gore won he would be treated to the same objections). Interestingly, side note, I was in Europe when Bush visited there several months ago and it was interesting to hear the news coverage. It was respectful and divided as to how he did. It seems he scored some points in the UK and overall my perception (2 very qualifying words there of course) was that the trip went better overall in Europe's perception than it was portrayed in America though of course there were bumps and there were also many Europeans very negative about the trip.
