Hi everyone, I don't usually do this, but I'd like to ask you for a favour. As some of you might know, I'm in my final year at university. Since I'm combining these studies with a full time job as a producer, I'm going to write my thesis on something I'm familiar with. My thesis will handle strategic management within the music industry. I have a promotor, who is a professor of mine (and also CEO of one of Europe's leading temp work companies), but I need a co-promotor who is an executive within the music industry. Since I don't know any (top) executives within record companies (or companies that are working on new online distribution channels etc), I'm hoping someone can help me with this. The role of the co-promotor will be the following: * Inform me. * Give me guidelines on how to approach specific topics and possibly point me to information resources. * Follow-up my thesis project and oversee the quality of the content. * If possible, put me in contact with people. * Possibly come to my presentation. The presentation will happen in June. Date and hour will be set in function of the co-promotor's agenda. All expenses will be payed for, even if that means flying someone over from the US. I might be able to set up video conferencing facilities for this. * Layout and spelling will be taken care of by someone else. No need put time in that. In return, I'll make sure the co-promotor can actually use the research I carry out, so it's a useful investment for everyone involved. Of course it'll be written in english. In addition to providing an in-depth academic analysis, I'll also offer my own perspective and conclusions on the subject as well as ideas and suggestions for new strategies and their implementation. If desired the thesis will be 100% confidential! So, if anyone knows any (top) executives in the industry, could you please mail me privately at joeri@... ? If you know anyone who could help me out or put me in contact with the right people, that would be an incredible help as well. It doesn't matter where this person lives. I need to find this person within the next two weeks. MANY THANKS and my apologies for bothering the lists with this, Joeri PS: if you need more info on the thesis, here's a brief overview: Part 1: Introduction. Description of the new technologies. Part 2: The implications of the new technologies: Effects on the "old" music industry (= through the well-know distribution channels). The creation of a "new" music industry (= through online selling, streaming etc). Evolution from the old to the new industry. Part 3: Comparative analysis of strategies of record companies: Analysis of the financial results of the major record companies. Analysis of the strategic management decisions of the major record companies. Analysis of how the strategic decisions have influenced/determined the financial results. Evaluation of the strategies. Part 4: Strategic management towards the future. This part will also include personal opinions, ideas, suggestions and practical approaches. Part 5: Conclusion. -- Joeri Vankeirsbilck joeri@...
