Hi, I knew I was going to get a few reactions to my rant :-) "Richmond, James (James) ** CTR **" wrote: > Einsturzende Neubaten and Die Toten Hozen as well... > Where are Kraftwerk from again? Of course you are perfectly right! But where are all these bands now? Die Toten Hosen stopped being a credible band years ago (matter of taste of course!!!). OK, there is Rammstein....Guano Apes are one of the most unoriginal bands ever... > Does anyone remember a terrible 80's band called D.A.D. D.A.D are a Danish band. They are still around, but pretty low profile. > To say that the German music scene is dull (or any varient thereof) is > plainly untrue. > I do not live in Germany, nor have I been there, but I listen to several > bands who rate amongst my faves that hail from there > But I agree that there does seem to be quite a bit of evidence towards > the stereotype of the German engineer. > One one does not forbid the other though. > Anyone who claims it to be so has a fairly fuzzy thought process. Well, I do live in Germany ;-) I am aware of a number of original German artists. Most of these, however, haven't done anything since the early 80s. AND, they were much bigger in the US than in their native Germany. The early 80s, in fact, were a temporary revelation, but the advent of CD, and with it the flood of international re-releases killed the New German Wave movement in one fell swoop, thanks to the greedy record companies. I give you that my thought processes are occasionally somewhat fuzzy.... Cheers, Recky
