i cant really recommend anything at all without a large price tag!
im in one of those tricky spots where im used to (other peoples!) 
high end units - ie pro studios. my misgivings actually apply 
across the board - seeing a trusted engineer switch a mid priced 
unit on, listen to it for three minutes, then immediately put it in the 
cupboard tends to colour my view! like many i either cant afford 
or cant justify some sexy esoteric high end unit...sigh :-)
i owned a tl unit once upon a time, i think the 5051? it worked 
moderately well, if slightly noisy. i guess we cant ask much more 
than that of a reasonably priced unit. if the 3051 is a step up from 
what you can achieve now then id say go ahead - and hope that it 
helps cause you immense wealth, at which point you'll be happy 
to part with three grand for a very fine equaliser indeed!
