Hi there, >Been using 01V for about a year, love it. Everything= efx, dynamic >processors, great midi implementation, buss options, beautiful >construction, good size (if you wanted mobility), you can patch more >than one together for more channels. I've owned a few desks over the years: Mackie 1402, Behringer Eurodesk 8000, Yamaha O1v, Yamaha O2r. I have to say that the 01v did not sound as good as the analog desks I've owned. It is the Mic Pre's and A/D's that let it down, imho. And a lack of headroom. Maybe if you pop an AES/EBU card in it and use an external channel strip with A/D it might improve things but that is a lot of expense for a cheap desk. When I moved over to the UK I chose to go back to an analog desk (Mackie 24/8) and haven't had a problem. The lack of automation is a it of a pain, but Logic control should fix that. FWIW, Mackie 24/8's are *very cheap* at the moment. We bought ours in loot for £1200, £100 more than the price of a new 01v without any cards. I had it cleaned up by a tech for £150 and it is a pearler. Also, the metering on an O1v used to piss me off. Also heard quite a bit about digital sync issues with the O1v. >The only thing I ever wanted to do that I couldn't was buss separate >channels to the digital out (it mirrors the master out), but there are >four analog busses. Oh yeah, and a great well lit VU window. Tops to Yamaha:-) JR
