Strange. For me, normalizing depends on the use of the recording.
If it's a simple sample which I'll use later on, then I normalize it.
If it's a recording, then I don't normalize it (I record at 24 bit) 
because I want the levels of the recordings to be consistent.
And I also record as hot as possible... and I put an outboard compressor 
with very high ratio at -3dB so I can turn up the gain safely without 
clipping.

Nope. It's been announced a loooong time ago (3.0?), but was never 
implemented afaik.
