The answer is: not the best for your software, but rather the one 
that best fits your hand. There was one a few years ago that asked 
that your thumb be the thing that moves the ball. 5 seconds of 
rational thinking should tell you that this is a horrible idea.

I have large hands and find that the Microsoft Explorer trackball 
works well. The driver for the Mac is better than the one for 
Windoze! It offers application-specific functionality, whereas the 
Windoze version does not.
