Cheap digital mixer vs. cheap analog mixer?

2002-05-15 by Sumit Das

I need to get a hi-fidelity but very compact mixer. I was thinking
about the Mackie 1202VLZ Pro, but it looks like I can get the
Roland VM3100 VMixing Station for the same price, and
the VM3100 for a bit more. In addition to being 24-bit digital
mixers (with fx and recallable mixes), they have transport
controls and with the sliders, I can have a poor man's
Logic Control.

So, the converters are better than my Audiowerks8, it is a
control surface, recallable mixes, it has built-in fx...

Should I do it, or will the Mackie sound better? Anybody
have experience with these guys?

   Thanks a lot, smeet
