I think Apple is doing what they have to do to keep going. look at Quicktime - a great wrapper for multimedia - cross platform etc - can't make headway in the pc world because MS comes up with its own competing formats. then look at the once "big" Apple apps - various Adobe, Digidesign, Avid and so forth all migrating to pc in the post windows world... worse than that: many of these apps develop and release for pc _first_. I think that Apple did the right thing in purchasing Astarte, Final Cut, Sound Jam etc and bringing them into the fold. All of these are getting regular development at Apple and not being relegated to some back corner of a big pc software house. I think Emagic was in trouble so this is good for both companies. That said the future looks cloudy for Logic pc users - and that is not good.
