One problem is that the bus speed is not increased. I have had NO problems with this machine, in fact I can run OSX on it if I need, to, and it's actually much more stable than it was with the original CPU (go figure). I highly recommend the Sonnet products, the card looks better built and runs much cooler than the original Apple CPU card did. The beauty of this is that I got the 8500 about six years ago (cheap, as it was just discontinued), and it is more than fast enough for me for now. The "bios" (I assume you refer to PRAM) is updated through a floppy supplied with the card. I also got a USB card for $24 at Best Buy. Let's just say that for ~$400, I have a reasonably fast G4, and I spent the rest of my computer budget buying EXS24, EVP88, Stylus, Battery, Absynth... I was thinking about putting together a PC, but right now, I'm pretty glad I didn't... -smeet
