There is a version of vi called vim that can do nice code coloring, and
has some other nice features.  It won't do the autoindent trick, I think.

However, if you like emacs you will probably not like vi, since vi is a 
modal editor (you can't just type text at the cursor,  you have to enter 
insert or append mode, etc.).  That said, emacs is IMHO much worse 
for RSI problems, and the keycommands are hard to remember.  I 
hate using vi, but I have to say that after about 6 years not using it, my 
muscles still remember the keycommands, and it is VERY fast to work 
with.  YMMV.
