I doubt anyone who you look up to engineering wise invented the FX processors used, they just learned the skills of how to use them by practicing. What you need to do is not find out other peoples techniques but rather try recreating what you hear them doing. This will spawn true creativity, much more so than copying. If you like a certian effect someone did, expiriment with trying to recreate it because you will come up with something original and probably even better. This is likely how the person you are trying to emulate did it as well. :-) Colin Miller
