StuffIt can extract .tar.gz files, can't it? I'm using that format because a) the emails are "harvested" on a Linux computer, and that's the native archive format.. it's not a Windows-specific format. Since OS X is UNIX based just like Linux, it wouldn't surprise me if it came with the tools needed to uncompress the file. And b) the compression it provides is better than any other program. It doesn't matter so much for smaller lists like Logic-OT, but the Logic-users archive with 119,000 messages is *huge*, and no other program can compress 297 megabytes down to 43. I tried with WinRAR (which is the best compression program I've found in Windows) and it only compressed it down to 55 or 60 megabytes if I remember correctly.
