Just to add to the ongoing conversation and the comment of it being a factory, some of my fellow classmates include Paula Cole, BT, and Able Laboriel Jr. Not exactly cookie cutter musicians. They may not have been known then, but they were just as talented as they are known to be now. I don't know anything about the whole poser issue or what that means. I think some people need to be spoon fed and others know how to find what and who they need to grow (not referring to anyone in particular, just generalization).
