I have never heard the UAD-1, though. What I can say about the Waves plug-ins is that they can handle every job, and they sound awesome - although perhaps a little too clean/cold for some people. But you've got the PSP plugs for giving your sounds some attitude. The Waves plugs are great for all kinds of jobs, from processing a track or complete mix through editing a little mistake in a drumloop or even a whole mix. Say, you've got a great mix, but the snare is too loud, and there's no way to remix. Just take the C1 with side chain, find the frequency of the snare, compress that frequency, and you're done! I think that very precise work is not the strongest point of the UAD plugs. On the other hand I'm sure they are all plug-ins with a great sound. They also have a character of their own and will "colour" your programme material. If that's what you're looking for it's a great choice. Hope this helps a bit. Gert www.waveworld.tv
