Yes, I think this is adressing one of the real secrets to finding the right pair of speakers to mix on - the mixes have to translate to other systems in other rooms. Therefore, it is really important to know the strengths and weaknesses of your speaker/room combination, to vary volume when mixing, walk around your control room - they all have peaks and dips, and the smaller the control room, the greater the difficulties in the bass end - indeed, the smaller control rooms can have modal problems extending right out of the bass end into frequency areas which can affect vocals. No matter what set of speakers you choose, you have to get to know them REALLY WELL before you can trust yourself to mix other peoples music on them. Me? Genelec 1031 + 1092 sub, for about the last 10 years ....and I would be very tempted to get a set of 5 1030's for surround .....ah well, one can dream .... kind regards Mark Cahill
