Take a look at www.musictoys.com > > --litepipe > I found a "boutique" booster, the Rangeking, made by TAD (Tube Amp Doctor, formerly Ruby Tubes, www.tubeampdoctor.com) in Germany, that does exactly what I want. Basically, you set it so that it hits the amp quite hard for your distorted sound and you then go back on it using the pick up volume control of your guitar to arrive at a clean sound with hardly any loss of volume level. The pedal also features a "Balls" knob allowing you to conteract the loss of bottom end often associated with booster or distortion pedals. The Rangeking has no sound of its own. It's 125 Euros, which ain't cheap, but well worth it. It's also good for recording, for that added bottom end-enhanced drive.
