OTOH I like the >cheeper C3000 (I think that is the right model number) on my voice. That's easily believable since there really aren't many rules on vocals. Everyone's voice is different so there's no telling what Mic will be best. I remember one singer trying every fancy neuman, etc mic we could find, but couldn't get them to sound nearly as good as an RE20 on him. The different model 414's sound different so theoretically the cheaper ones could even sound better on someone's voice than the good ones (but less likely). The original (C414) has a C12 capsule, so you can bet its pretty nice. but the later models started using cheaper parts and different capsules. I personally cannot stand the C300, but as you mentioned, for you it works better than some neumans on your voice. My personal all around favs which i go to when there isn't a chance to find the best mic is usually the U67 or M149. I guess the best bet for the original poster is to see how many mics you can borrow or get ahold of to try out on yourself until you find the one that works best (it could end up being a 57...)
