I wouldn't own one if you gave it too me, but apparently the iPods' batteries have ALL been going dead shortly after 18 months. Someone in NYC discovered this and after going a round or two with Apple Tech Support and being told he should just resolve to buy a new one, this guy started making posters and plastering them all around the city, stating simply that the un-replaceable batteries go dead after 18 months and Apple won't fix it. Then, lawsuits against Apple were rumored, upon which Apple was rumored to have started a replacement program. BUT, if you're willing to pay $99 to keep your music fresh every 18 months, remember you still have to have it backed up elsewhere, because when the battery dies, the music goes too, and must be reloaded *if* you get a new battery.
