for this kind of sound ive actually played around with a Marshall
compressor pedal after the OD pedal. The compression boosts your
sustain (obviosuly), so even when you flub a bit you still have signal
in there to make it all sound continuous. 

of course, you could just be a flawless player (unlike me) and have
perfectly executed arpgiation every time. but im lazy, i prefer to buy
gear instead of practice alot :)
