The Logic Off Topic list

These may be elementary questions:

If I insert a plug-in (ESX, EVP, Mini-Moog, etc) in an instrument 
track I can only record midi data. How do I record it as an audio 
track? (How do I get instrument input to an audio track input from my 
plug-ins?)Do I need to output and patch back in through my patch-bay? 
( I need to conserve processor power. If I can record my virtual 
instruments one at a time to an audio track and close them, It would 
help.)

System:
Motu 2408MKIII, Express XT, G4 OSX, Logic 6 Pro
