Hi there, lightpipe, I'll try to answer what I can: > I was looking to buy the new G5 dual 1.8 gig > with 1 > gig of ram. I was also looking to buy a Glymph desktop firewire drive > for my > audio. How do you suspect this system would work for me with Logic > Pro? What I'd look into the PCI compatibility of your 2408 system with the G5. If you're talking about the latest revision dual 1.8, then you may be in luck as it's classic PCI, similar to the G4 systems. As for the Glyph firewire solution, unless you need RAID or hot-swappable drives, there are cheaper cases out there from other reputable manufacturers such as Lacie or ADS Tech. A lot of money can be saved by buying a case without a hard drive and adding it yourself. > do I need to know about buying a Mac? Is it really set up right out of > the > box? I also run Microsoft Office, Toast, Virtual PC, Photoshop, and several other apps. I never have to worry about messing up my audio setup as OS X is not as picky as OS 9 was with configuration (i.e. loading system extensions, etc). > now I have a audio only p.c. and it still has problems:-( I'm not > looking to > use it for web, just a few other apps. > How does the MOTU stuff work with Logic and Mac? > Basically I want a system that functions. I have had zero problems over the past few years due to this combo. I'm unsure of what the PCI performance has been, so you should investigate that. Mark
