Recommended by friends on this list I bought the Windows application  
MacDrive. Now I can use the same LaCie FireWire800/400/USB for both  
my Apple Powerbook and my Centrino lappy running XP. Neat!!!! Oh, I  
keep the external drives OS X formatted. I guess MAcDrive would do  
the trick for you too.

My next project with MacDrive is to "save" the content of two 160 GB  
internal drives from my dead G5. The plan is to mount the drives  
inside a desktop PC, with MacDrive installed, and move them over to  
the Firewire drives I now prefer.
