I don't know what manufacturer's drives are inside them. They do FW 400, FW 800 and USB 2. I have several in various sizes, 250G, 300G, 500G and none have ever failed. I did have one older La Cie 250G drive fail after four years - it was from around 1999 or 2000 when the face plate was blue. I have three more of those old ones still running now and they're working OK. - Dave
