Actually I recorded that in logic and the essentials of the system I
use have not changed much except that back then I was using a
Digidesign Session 8 which only gave me 8 tracks. As a lot of other
artists have observed, the more limited system I was using back then
seems to have made me more focused and productive than all the
possibilities I have now. Or maybe I am just getting lazy and that
sounds like a good excuse.
And BTW Beefheart is THE MAN. Actually I was thrilled to have guitar
god "Gary Lucas" who played in Beefheart's band when he made "Ice
Cream For Crow" play on a cut of "hot air head". He was the only
other guitarist my competitive nature allowed me to put on the album,
and he has such a competitive nature that there is practically an
explosion from the amp every time he plugs in. To be perfectly
honest it made it pretty difficult to play with him.
