It may have to do with the source CD. Does it play OK in a regular CD
player?. I have had some success restoring scratched CD's that I bought by
extracting the whole CD onto the hard drive and then burning to another CD.
But other times the scratches on the source translate to the aiff file.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
