Pakistan and Afganistan

>Maybe that's why America has a habit of supporting and financing the >most brutal dictatures in the world, including the Taliban regime >until recently ? Its often mentioned that the US created Bin Laden in the Afgan-Russian war. I heard the author of a book called Soldiers of God who spent years in Afganistan say that the US wanted to support moderate Afgans, but the Pakistanis insisted that the US support the most radical Afgan group. The reason was, so Pakistan could control this group when the later took over. However, even with Pakistani support they still couldn't win after the soviets left. The result was chaos from which the Taliban arose from the Pakistani religious schools. Vincent Kenis wrote >According to some, the "American agenda" is very obvious : .... >- install military bases so that they can balance Russia and China, >which in the long run are their main obstacles for world domination >...break all anti-imperialist resistance in the world. If the US is so imperialistic, why didn't we keep Panama, South Korea, West Germany, Japan, Okinawa, Grenada, and parts of Kosovo? Surely we must have gotten some additional real estate to add to our 'empire' with all these wars, right?
