So, if it *should* go to the OT list, why in the world don't you at LEAST
crosspost it there?
I mean, you're not even the first to mention this, but nobody actually ACTED
properly.
Or is it that all you people need the full attention of 6000+ subscribers?
Does that make one feel any better?
Btw, I don't mean to insult you personally (that's why I wrote *someone*)
but it seems a common behaviour these day to say "I know, this should go to
the LUG-OT" - but hell no, better don't even think about DOING what you are
saying, that would be taking all those huge OT threads where they belong!
I don't have that much time to read emails these days, so I usually leave my
OT folder alone until I find some time. But I want to stay on track with
this list, so posting threads onto the appropriate lists would be highly
welcomed.
Not that I have anything against some OT posts, even not on the main LUG,
but this list simply is too crowded to keep continuing them.

Regards,
Sascha

<<snipped Sascha's tantrum>> ;-).

Back on track: so does Herbie use shitty sounds?
Herbie has these up and down periods, I guess. I have some vinyl from him, things like 'Sunlight', 'Magic windows', 'Futureshock' and 'Soundsystems'. Those albums go like up and down, when it comes to compositions. Sound-wise, 'Futureshock' was great, so are 'Magic windows' and 'Sunlight' but they are boring albums.
If you see the amount of analog stuff mentioned on those albums, it's like analog heaven. But he manages to some cheesy sounds in these compositions. Cheesy vocoders going on and on. It's like these fusion dudes don't seem to understand it. Someone mentioned Joe Zawinul? Man, we are talking the godfather of cheesy sounds here. They need to learn from other people, like these rock dudes like Tony Banks from Genesis or from industrial guys like Trent Reznor. It's like these rock dudes don't know to play that great( although Tony Banks aint that bad a player), but know what sound to use to fit in well.

Don't get me wrong, I like to hear Herbie play; seen him a couple of times at North Sea Jazz festival. But he needs to stick to the acoustic grand. Then he's at his best. Ever heard that album of him and Chick Corea doing acoustic grands?
And he needs to do work on other people's albums, like he did for Miles Davis and Wayne Shorter.
Btw, someone mentioned that Herbie developed the Rhodes sound. I thought Herbie was best known for playing the clavinet.
Need to stop ranting now.
Peace out,
Yoonchi.
