LAMP: Does anyone feel like "sucker" is your middle name.

LAMP: Does anyone feel like "sucker" is your middle name.

2002-02-11 by Alexis Aiosa

I just called Emagic here in the US.

Guess what! My upgrade for 3.72 to version 5 is going to 399.00. Now I
have been using LAMP since version 2.0. And in some ways, I do think the
pricing is fair. But with all problems and issues since 3.5 through to
version 4 (v4 is at my friends studio). Does one honestly feel that I
should spend the doe on version 5?

Really, does one see any advantage, because right now, I don't see any.
Have the dominant amount of bugs gone away? Or is it really to early to
tell. Or did just a slew crap happen, like opening the Pandora's box.

I mean, I am really tired of this...is there anyone else tired of this? Or
am I the only one who sees the futility of upgrading. LOL.

Peace,
Alexis

Alexis, you are missing out. I've been using Platinum since 4.2, and
upgraded all the way to 4.8.1. Yes, there have been bugs along the
way. So what.

The improvements have far outweighed any problems. The sound engine
alone when I upgraded to 4.5 blew me away. There are so many more
things that can be mentioned, but here's the deal:

If you are running software, you're going to find bugs. It's written
by humans, we are not perfect. Emagic, however, is obviously
committed to excellence, and they do listen to this group as well as
users, and try to implement the changes and eliminate as many
problems as possible.

Try upgrading to 4.5 first, take note of the improvements, and let
that be a taste for what Emagic will provide in the future.

Yes that is a lot but you want it and feel it is worth the price or
you don't. It really has been ages since e-magic has done a paid
upgrade.

There are advantages to the 5.0 release and there will be more in the
unpaid sub releases. You know the drill.

Tired of what? Bugs? Sure. I'm also tired of telephone marketers,
mosquitos, rent, dates that won't "put out" and all the rest
humanities plagues but that's the way it goes.

Apparently your the only one. It's lonely being a visionary. I know.

I actually do use v4. I think if you read what I was taking about.

I have to pay 399.00 US to upgrade my home setup from 3.7.2 to v5.

The experience I have with v4 up to v4.8.1 has been less than admirable IMO.

So, now with all that in mind, do you really think 399.00 US is a fair
price?

Peace,
Alexis
