   I think the only way you can use XG-Edit at the same time as Logic
would be to use 'Hubi's MIDI loopback' device.
   Go to the homepage of XG-Edit and you should find links, tips,
forums where this is covered. I can send you all the little snippets of
info I've collected off the LUG about setting up Hubi's if you want.

If you're a MIDI phobe then you have my sympathies as Hubi's admittedly
clever freeware can be confusing. 
   If I were you then, I'd just upgrade Silver to Gold so you can use a
fully functioning SW1000XG Environment without having to faff about with
anything. Though are you sure about Silver not liking the Environments
you've tried? - on the Emagic site it says "Silver allows Platinum and
Gold Environments" - that's Silver 4.5, however. Maybe just update
your Silver 3.6 to Silver 4.5 then...?
