Great new guitar book you can see on yer 'puter!

Andy Seyler sent me an unsolicited copy of his book "Guitarists' Toolbook," ostensibly for me to just check it over and see what I thought and asked if I might consider writing something for one of the guitar forums I participate in. Well, he sent me a .PDF copy!!! WOW! I've wondered why no one had yet created a good chord reference book for guitar that would be a handy dandy reference while on the computer for working on arrangements, new tunes, even in the midst of recording something! Well, Andy has not only done just that, but his book is quite different and useful (more than most), as well. He wanted something to make searching for just the right chord a lot easier than it has been in the past, and I think he's succeeded. He's done a kinda Ted Greene thing in that the whole breakdown is based on 'C' chords, in every conceivable form and position, BUT he went a step further by using JUST what some call "Orchestra Chords," or four notes per. That way you can easily move things around or just change the root, etc. No bizarre hand stretches. THEN he lists all the scales that can be played over each chord and of course, diagrams the whole nine yards, including the scales. In addition, he's listed (and diagrammed) the "unusual" or "foreign" scales, including everything you ever heard of from 3 kinds of Hungarian, Oriental, Persian, to Byzantine, etc., just to name a few... Very cool! Andy told me on the phone he spent about 12 years putting this together, something he needed to help himself master chord melodies. Well, it's a heck of an effort, very comprehensive, and like I said, as handy as it gets. So, I talked him into offering the thing as a .PDF or "electronic book" for those who want it. I guess his first impression of that was to sell & send folks the hard copy, and then email them the .PDF as a bonus, but I'll bet he'd consider selling JUST the .PDF for something less than the $15US he'd like to get for the hard copy. Heck, at that price, it's worth it just for the awesome .PDF version. Anyway, if you're interested or have any questions, email Andy at GuitarToolbook@... where he's set up an account just for this. He's located in Virginia, just outside DC, and is a jazz guitarist, there. He'd just like to make something back for the effort he's put in, and for the time being plans to just print books as he gets orders, but the .PDF is obviously ready to go. You'll have to email him to find out if he's set up to receive PayPal or you need to send a check, MO, or whatever... BTW, the ONLY thing I'm getting out of this is the free copy of his book that I already have, so I have no motive in passing this along other than I think it's a great piece of work and a really useful book media idea for which the time has come! And, I think this cat deserves some reward for all his hard work, too. :) GuitarToolbook@...
